There is so much underlying this trumpet-and-percussion duo’s mix of free jazz, Afro-Caribbean traditions and electronic production that their music urges multiple, infinite listens, only to peel back a new layer and discover something new. Long-time collaborators Aquiles Navarro & Tcheser Holmes have been electrifying New York as members of the equally fearless Irreversible Entanglements for quite some time now, but their latest record together, last year’s ‘Heritage of the Invisible II’ is perhaps the most unhinged they’ve ever been.
